Accra, Ghana — July 30, 2025

The Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE) has officially announced the appointment of Mrs. Joyce Bawah Mogtari, former Deputy Transport Minister and Presidential Advisor, as Patron of the Young Female Entrepreneurs Programme (YoFEP), its flagship initiative focused on supporting young women-led enterprises across Ghana.

The appointment, announced during the maiden edition of the Young Women Business Summit held in Accra, marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s efforts to foster inclusive entrepreneurship and promote women’s economic participation.

“Mrs. Mogtari’s acceptance of this role is not just symbolic — it’s catalytic,” said Sherif Ghali, CEO of GCYE. “Her leadership, depth of experience, and longstanding advocacy for women in governance will provide strategic direction and visibility to the YoFEP initiative, at a time when women’s economic inclusion is more urgent than ever.”

About YoFEP

Launched under GCYE’s inclusive business development framework, the Young Female Entrepreneurs Programme (YoFEP) is designed to empower young women in Ghana with business training, mentorship, access to finance, digital tools, and policy advocacy support. The programme targets aspiring and existing female entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40, particularly in underserved communities.

Through strategic partnerships with organisations including 2SCALE, the British Council, and SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, YoFEP aims to create equitable pathways for women to thrive in the formal economy.

Who is Joyce Bawah Mogtari?

A respected lawyer, public servant, and former Deputy Minister for Transport, Mrs. Mogtari has long championed gender equity and sustainable development. She serves as Special Aide and Advisor to former President John Dramani Mahama and currently supports various policy initiatives on governance and women’s leadership across the continent.

Her track record includes advocacy for women’s empowerment, legal reform, and youth development — all of which align with the core values of YoFEP.

“Empowering young women to lead businesses is one of the most effective ways to build resilient economies,” Mrs. Mogtari stated in her acceptance remarks. “I am honoured to contribute to this bold agenda led by the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs.”

What This Means for Young Women Entrepreneurs

Mrs. Mogtari’s patronship will involve playing an advisory and ambassadorial role, offering guidance on programme strategy, amplifying impact through national and international advocacy, and mentoring selected female entrepreneurs under YoFEP.

As Ghana continues to grapple with high youth unemployment and gender-based business barriers, this announcement signals renewed commitment toward building an inclusive economic future.

Join the Movement

The GCYE is calling on young women across Ghana to take advantage of the opportunities offered by YoFEP. The Chamber also invites partners from the public and private sectors, development agencies, and advocacy groups to support its inclusive business strategy.
