The Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE) has been represented on the Grant Management Committee of the Adwumawura Programme, following its official inauguration by the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment.
The inauguration marks a key milestone in the rollout of the Adwumawura Programme, a flagship government initiative designed to support youth-led enterprises and strengthen sustainable job creation across Ghana. The establishment of the Grant Management Committee is intended to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness in the administration of public funds entrusted to the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme.
GCYE is represented on the committee by its President, Mr Sherif Ghali, who also serves as President of the Ghana Youth Federation. In this role, he represents the interests of young entrepreneurs and the broader youth constituency, with a focus on safeguarding equity, merit-based selection, and national inclusion in the grant allocation process.
The committee brings together representatives from academia, financial institutions, development partners, the private sector, and key government agencies, reflecting a multi-stakeholder approach to youth enterprise development. Members include representatives from the University of Ghana Business School Innovation Centre, the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, the Ministry of Finance, ABSA Bank, the Venture Capital Trust Fund, the British Council, the National Youth Authority, MASLOC, and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment reaffirmed government’s commitment to youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth. He emphasised that the Adwumawura Programme goes beyond funding, aiming to build resilient businesses capable of contributing to inclusive national development. Committee members were charged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, fairness, and diligence.
The Chief Executive Officer of NEIP highlighted the importance of inclusiveness, equity, innovation, and measurable impact in the selection of at least 2,000 viable businesses under the programme. The Board Chairman of NEIP further assured the committee of the Board’s full support and underscored the need for a transparent, non-partisan process that inspires public trust.
Responding on behalf of the committee, Prof George Acheampong of the University of Ghana Business School expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the members and pledged the committee’s collective commitment to integrity, diligence, and transparency.
GCYE’s participation on the Grant Management Committee reinforces its role as a key stakeholder in Ghana’s youth entrepreneurship ecosystem and reflects its ongoing commitment to ensuring that national programmes deliver meaningful, fair, and sustainable outcomes for young entrepreneurs across the country.
