The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE), Mr Sherif Ghali, has been appointed to the independent Selection Committee for the government’s flagship Adwumawura Programme.

The programme, led by the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) under the vision of President John Dramani Mahama, aims to identify and support 10,000 viable youth- and women-led businesses across Ghana. It is regarded as one of the largest interventions designed to provide funding, mentorship and market opportunities for emerging enterprises.

As part of the Committee, Mr Ghali will join other independent stakeholders drawn from the private sector, civil society, academia and development partners. Their task is to ensure that the selection of beneficiaries is transparent, fair and equitable, with a particular focus on reaching deserving young entrepreneurs and women innovators across the country.

GCYE described the appointment as a recognition of its continued advocacy for inclusive business policies and youth-focused enterprise development. It also commended NEIP’s approach of involving external actors in the process, calling it the best way to guarantee credibility and accountability.

“This is about more than just selecting beneficiaries—it is about shaping the future of Ghana’s economy by empowering the next generation of job creators,” Mr Ghali said. “Through Adwumawura, thousands of young entrepreneurs will have the chance to grow, employ and innovate in ways that can transform communities.”

The Chamber has pledged its full support for the programme, noting that it aligns with its mission of promoting youth entrepreneurship as a driver of national renewal and inclusive growth.
